Hans Parlevliet (1953, Groningen) graduated cum laude at the Minerva Academy in Groningen in 1980. For many years he worked as an illustrator with Herman Tulp. As a result of the growing demand for his paintings he stopped his activities as an illustrator and began working as a fulltime painter in 1992. His preference goes out to painting landscapes, plunged in late afternoon or evening sunlight. Parlevliet also paints still life paintings in which he uses old objects combined with fruit. He paints with a clear palette and gives much attention to light and substance expression. As a result his paintings have a unique character. The work of Parlevliet has been incorporated in many national - and international collections.
