Richard Price (1960, England) received his education at the GerritRietveld Academy in Amsterdam and stayed a resident in the Netherlands after graduation. He studied with the Italian master of glass art Lino Tagliapietra and learned traditional Venetian glass techniques from him. Between 1987 and 1991 Prices assisted him in a few international projects. Price's own work shows large torsos and heads with elaborate and detailed decorations. For his more recent work, Price found inspiration in his travels to Thailand. This results in many references to ethnic traditions and objects from this country. The abundant use of colour and texture is balanced with the serenity of the art works.
