Con van Velsen (1948, Bussum) is a self-taught artist. Prior to his painting activities he worked as a photographer. In painting, he found room to express his imagination and for him painting equals freedom. His meticulous depiction of detail does not limit this freedom, but enlarges the room in which he can create new world and tell new stories in the highest detail. In his paintings, or miniatures, the perfection is sublime even with a magnifying glass.
