BorekSipek (Prague, 1949) wanted to become an architect when he was a young boy. He studied interior architecture in 1968 and continued his education in architecture in Hamburg. After graduation here, his interest in philosophy and theatre started to grow. All these interests he combines in his glass work, which culminate in a large oeuvre of bowls and vases. In 1989 he received the Kho Liang I prize for design, the highest award for design in the Netherlands. A solo exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam followed in 1991.
