Nikolaas van Os (1950, Amerongen) received his education at the Free Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. Van Os has specialized in the genre of fantastic imagery, with hints of surrealism. Characteristic for his colourful, monumental sculptures is the fundament of separate, partially dressed, skeleton frames. His inspiration Van OS gets from music, literature and history. His works look like fable animals, which are, according to Van Os too often subjected to serious analyses. The sculptures are ideal to be placed outside, they are rain and frost proof and, quite literally give a face to the garden or space in which they are located.
