Kobe de Peuter (Turnhout, 1979) is a Belgian artist, scenarist and short-filmdirector. Initially he was a portrait artist and worked as a filmcritic for various websites. In 2002, he completed his study as a teacher in visual arts and ethics, and in the same year he had his first exhibition in the cultural center of Louvain. This was the beginning of a whole series of exhibitions, mainly in Louvain, Antwerp, Gent and Amsterdam single months later on.
From 2004 until 2007 Kobe de Peuter lived and worked in Barcelona, where he continued his work as a professional artist and besides his activities as a painter, he wrote and directed his first short film ‘Nobody’s Innocent’ in 2005. His second short film, ‘Pipe Dreams’ came out in 2007.
In this year Kobe moved back to Belgium again, but resides in Catalonia, Spain several periodes per year where he with regularity exhibits and works on commission for companies as TMB and CREDA.
The style of Kobe de Peuter is contemporary realism with photograph-realistic figures in light abstracted surroundings. He coöperated with other artists as Justus Dark, Jan Willem Maris, Kristof Van Heeschvelde, Ineke Smienk and Francien Krieg. In 2007 Kobe de Peuter lounched the artist collective ‘Itch’ together with Jan Willem Maris, Iet Langeveld, Danielle Luinge and Koen Pattyn.
